The Innovators Society is a new group for philanthropic giving made up exclusively of donors that contribute at or above the $1,000 level to The Cooper Union Annual Fund. Through their generosity, members actively support Peter Cooper’s vision to improve society through invention, action, education and philanthropy. The Cooper Union Annual Fund gratefully recognizes members of the Innovators Society—including the Innovators Society Fellows who have contributed at the $5,000 level—for providing this essential and unrestricted support for The Cooper Union and its students. Annual Fund gifts can be put to immediate use, providing vital resources that support many aspects of student life including scholarships, academic programs, faculty research and career services.
Peter Cooper established his school to give young men and women of all backgrounds the formal education he missed, an education that has transformed the lives of students for generations. Today we see direct evidence of Cooper’s vision in the innovative, forward-looking work of our students and faculty: an architect who devised ingenious strategies for countering storm surges; engineering students who invented a simple way to convert toilets into dual-flush systems, potentially saving hundreds of gallons of water each year; an artist turning defunct trailers into mobile gardens. These are just three of thousands of innovations a Cooper education has made possible.
