Text Size A A A A Lifetime Giving Societies The Cooper Union established Lifetime Giving Societies to recognize the most generous benefactors to the school. Together, members of these Lifetime Giving Societies have contributed over $150 million to Cooper Union. On September 14, 2016, current members and new inductees to these societies were celebrated with a reception and the installation of a new donor wall in 41 Cooper Square. Sarah Bedell Cooper Society Sarah Bedell Cooper (1793-1869), Peter Cooper's wife, was instrumental in establishing a "Golden Wedding Fund" on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary to support charities. The Sarah Bedell Cooper Society celebrates her commitment to The Cooper Union, as well as her strong philanthropic spirit and initiative.
