Memorial and Honorary Gifts

John Q. Hejduk

The Cooper Union welcomes gifts made in honor or in memory of alumni, faculty or other inspirational individuals. In our effort to accommodate your desire to honor or memorialize the life of that special person here at Cooper, we offer the following options based on the amount you are able to contribute for this purpose.

Annual Fund Gifts (Suggested for gifts under $9,999)

Annual Fund gifts help to provide vital resources for students, can be put to immediate use upon receipt, and are allocated to the areas at Cooper where they are needed most. To make such a gift, please visit our secure online giving page and identify the individual who is being honored. The Annual Fund Office will mail an acknowledgement letter to each donor. If a gift is made in honor of a living individual, we will inform the honoree. In the case of memorial gifts, we will inform a family member or other designated individual connected to the deceased. In both cases, the name and address of each donor will be provided.

If you would like to encourage others to contribute to Cooper in memory of a loved one, we recommend sharing the following language:

“As a proud alumnus, it was [Name] wish that donations be made in his/her memory to The Cooper Union. Visit cooper.edu/give, call (212) 353-4103, or mail to: The Cooper Union Office of Alumni Affairs and Development, 30 Cooper Square, 8th floor, New York, NY 10003. Please be sure to indicate that the gift is in memory of [Name][School][Class year].”

Gifts can also be directed to the specific allocation of “Annual Fund Scholarship." This is a general fund for the current student body at Cooper, meaning these dollars provide support for student scholarships as a whole, rather than on an individual basis.

You will be notified of every gift received in your loved one’s name in the form of a letter. To arrange for this or for many questions, please email annualfund@cooper.edu or call (212) 353-4103.
